Well, I made recent discovery that shed light on a concerning trend in the luxury fashion industry, where appearances can be deceiving and labels misleading when it comes to textiles.

However, a closer look at the fabric composition reveals a startling truth.

56% Viscose (more than half it’s contents!)
31% Wool
13% Cotton
The primary material in this “cotton wool blend” skirt is viscose, a synthetic fabric commonly used in fast fashion, a la made in China at a fraction of the Gucci price.
Organic wool and cotton, the natural fibers one would expect to dominate in a luxury garment, make up less than half of the fabric composition these days. They’ve opted for cheaper materials that can be manufactured faster to keep up with the rapid pacing of online trends. This is why “trends” must die.
The Truth About Viscose:
Viscose, also known as rayon, is a semi-synthetic fiber derived from wood pulp. It can mimic the feel of natural fibers, it’s often chosen for its cost-effectiveness rather than its quality or sustainability. The prevalence of viscose in fast fashion is due to its cheap production costs and ability to imitate more expensive fabrics without actually being… expensive.
A More Authentic Alternative:
